Trout Unlimited’s Free Fly Tying Lessons
The Maine Chapter of Trout Unlimited will once again bring a full spectrum of fly tying lessons and trout-oriented seminars as part of the 30th Annual State of Maine Sportsman’s Show, April 2-4, at the Augusta Civic Center.
Trout Unlimited’s free fly tying lessons in the Lincoln Room of the Civic Center, has become a hugely popular staple of the show, especially with children. In addition various experts will make presentations, including several providing information about popular fishing destinations.
On Friday, April 2, the TU events are: 1-3p.m., Fly Tying; 3-4 p.m., Maine TU Trout Camp DVD movie with Greg Ponte; 4 – 5p.m., Fly Tying; 5-6 p.m., Penobscot River Restoration Trust with Laura Rose Day; 6-7 p.m., Fly Tying.
On Saturday, April 3, the events are: 9-10 a.m., Fly Tying; 10-11 a.m., Fly Fishing the Rapid River with Sam Day and Sam Kenney; 11-12 a.m., Fly Tying; 12-1 p.m., Natural History of Maine's Native Fish with Dick Behr; 1-3 p.m., Fly Tying 3 – 4 p.m., Fly Fishing the Kennebec River from Solon to North Anson by Drift Boat with Sean McCormick; 4-5 p.m., Fly Tying; 5-6 p.m., Ecology and conservation of brook trout in headwaters streams in Western Maine with Dr. Stephen M. Coghlan Jr.; 6-7 p.m., Fly Tying; 7 – 8 p.m., Fly Fishing for Steelhead at the Salmon River, Pulaski, NY, with Willie Grenier; 8 – 9 p.m., Fly Tying.
On Sunday, April 4, the events are: 9 – 10 a.m., Fly Tying; 10 - 11 a.m., Maine TU Trout Camp DVD with Greg Ponte; 11 a.m. – 12 p.m., Fly Tying; 12 – 1 p.m., The Natural History of Maine's Native fish with Dick Behr; 1 – 2 p.m., Fly Tying; 2 – 3 pm., Maine TU Trout Camp with Kyle McLain; 3 –5 p.m., Fly Tying.
